4 February 2013, Australia / National Visas (www.nationalvisas.com.au) - Retirement happens to all of us eventually. After years of hard work, you will be able to enjoy many things that you were unable to during your career. Retirement allows you to spend time with your family and visit friends who are abroad. With that, if you have family and friends who are in Australia, the Land Down Under, then, you may be able to consider a retirement visa to spend some of your twilight years in Australia. The retirement visa for Australia can be applied for by people who are aged 55 and older who are capable of supporting themselves financially. Since it will allow you to work part-time, you will be able to continue earning while still enjoying a relaxed and laidback environment. There are three categories under the retirement visa. First is the Investor Retirement or Subclass 405. This visa is suitable for those individuals who meet the age requirement and are able to have a long-term financial investment in the country. The second category is the Investor Retirement Regional Subclass 405 visa. This visa is not just for people who are aged 55 and up who are able to make a long-term financial investment in Australia but is also for those who commit to reside in a designated regional area of Australia. The requirements for this visa are slightly more relaxed. The third is the Retirement Subclass 410 visa. This visa is not for everyone. Only those who are already holders of the Retirement Subclass 410 visa and their partners can apply for this visa to extend their stay on in Australia. It may also be applied for by former holders of the Retirement Subclass 410 visa.Remember that the main applicant for the retirement visa has to be aged 55 and up but the application can include a spouse. However, the couple should have no dependent children anymore. Furthermore, health and character requirements will still have to be met and the applicant must have already arranged Sponsorship by an Australian State or Territory Government Agency.
