The Red Carnation Hotel Collection has announced that it has purchased the Ashford Castle in Cong, Ireland. Red Carnation purchased the property for €20 million out of an 18-month receivership, half of what previous owner Gerry Barrett paid.The hotel group intends to refurbish the castle with significant technology upgrades and a major investment on the spa area. However, the management team will see no changes to its personnel, with a record of ADR ranging from €415 to €950. Refurbishment will also go towards boosting the local economy, with local suppliers.As of now, the property offers a dining room and several private dining rooms, a bar, drawing room, and spa. The hotel's activities offer includes a 9-hole golf course, as well as opportunities for equestrian sport, falconry, boat trips, and fishing on the Cong & Lough Corrib.
