Tim Sheldon is president of the Caribbean & Latin America (CALA). He is responsible for the leadership, operations, growth and financial management of hotels in CALA. Currently, CALA has close to one hundred hotels and we anticipate significant growth with over sixty hotel openings across the region.
Prior to his current role, Tim was Chief Global Officer for Marriott’s Global Operations Group.
Under Tim’s leadership, his organization led the successful global rollout of guestVoice and mobile check-in and check-out. He had responsibilities for the design, development and deployment of products and services for all lodging brands across Marriott’s Business Continents. The disciplines include: Food and Beverage, Rooms Experience, Spa and Fitness, Retail and Engineering. Additionally, he has responsibility for brand standards and operational policies, quality assurance, operations procurement and the Lodging Program Management Office. Tim was appointed to this role in August 2009.
Prior to that role, he served as the Executive Vice President, Global Brand Management and Lodging Operations (from March 2008 to August 2009) where he was responsible for the strategic leadership of Marriott’s Select Service and Extended Stay brands. Additionally, he had responsibility for the management of nearly 500 Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites hotels in North America.
From January 2007 to March 2008, he served as Senior Vice President, Lodging Management and Select Service Global Brand Manager. Prior to this position, Tim was the Senior Vice President and Brand Manager for the select service and extended stay portfolio. In this role he led Marriott’s entry into the moderate-tier extended-stay space with the development of the TownePlace Suites brand.
Tim joined Marriott in 1985 and has worked in a variety of roles including: Brand Director, Regional Operations Director and property General Manager. He is a graduate of Concordia Lutheran College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
