While Georges Sampeur will preside over the Advisory Board of the Worldwide Hospitality Awards, Wolfgang M. Neumann will lead the Ceremony on November 14 at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. The current President and CEO of Rezidor Hotel Group Wolfgang M. Neumann has collected directorships for over 20 years. He has also been President of Hilton Worldwide and CEO Arabella. As Carlson Hotels joins the fold of the Chinese group HNA, his testimonial to the major restructuring of the hotel industry will be particularly instructive.
In four years, he grew the group to more than 500 operating properties with 110,000 operational rooms, diversifying the brand portfolio with Quorvus Collection in the upscale, Radisson Red in the generational lifestyle and Prizotel in the economy segment.
Today, he is preparing the group to integrate the constellation of HNA, the Chinese tourism group that acquired Carlson Hotels, majority shareholder of Rezidor. This should be confirmed by Swedish financial authorities in the months to come, as Rezidor Hotel Group is listed on Stockholm's stock exchange with a share of its capital owned by private investors.
This will be a new and interesting experience for this hotel industry "veteran", who debuted his career in the hotel industry with Hilton International. He rose through the ranks from Executive Vice President, COO to President United Kingdom and Ireland for Hilton Worldwide and finally President Europe.
He left his position in 2009 to take the helm at Arabella Hospitality Group, based in Munich, an important partner of Starwood Hotels Group in Europe. He has been with Carlson Rezidor since 2011.
Born in Austria, he graduated in hotel management from Klesseim Institute, which he completed with a program at Insead in Fontainebleau and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. A keen mountaineer who enjoys reaching for the summit, he also excels at long distance running.
