The German hotel group, represented by its CEO Dieter Müller, received the Grand Prize 2014 at the 15th Worldwide Hospitality Awards ceremony.

The Worldwide Hospitality Awards have offered yet another opportunity to reward the hotel group that made the  biggest impact on the year by awarding it the Grand Prix Hospitality-ON 2014. This year the trophy was presented by Georges Panayotis, president and founder of MKG Group, to Motel One, represented by its CEO Dieter Müller.

Positioned on the economy segment, Motel One is a German chain that focuses on the design of its properties in order to make the difference for its business and leisure clientele. Founded in 1987, it opened its first hotel in 2000 and since then has become a leader on its market. Motel One recently entered Austria by opening hotels in Vienna and Salzburg, and now has a network of 54 hotels and close to 12,000 rooms in Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Austria. The brand plans to continue its growth and has set a goal for 75 properties and some 18,000 rooms throughout Europe by 2017.

On January 1, 2014, Motel One was 77th hotel group worldwide in number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (read our report)
