Luxury Hotelschool Paris

Campaign - Luxury experience: A night at the Palace

The Luxury Hotelschool offers its students rare opportunities to experience luxury, and in particular to discover the customer experience in the most beautiful hotels in Paris in the program "A night at the Palace". In 2019 at Le Meurice and Le Bristol, first-year students were invited to spend 24 hours as guests of both hotels with a busy schedule: spa treatments, afternoon tea, cocktails at the bar, room service, gourmet dinner and a debriefing with their teachers the next day at Hotel de Crillon, another Palace of the capital. To understand luxury, you have to experience it. It's a reality today at the Luxury Hotelschool.

To understand luxury, you have to experience it. In the programme "A night at the Palace", the Luxury Hotelschool takes its first-year students to spend a night as a guest in several luxury hotels, this year Le Bristol and Le Meurice.

The program begins with careful preparations. Students must know everything about the hotel they will be staying in, and they must have the keys to analyse the experience they will live. It is not a question of evaluating the quality of the service, by nature close to perfection, but rather of knowing where to look. Students, assisted by their lecturers, develop evaluation grids, based on a selection of criteria from the French classification on the one hand, and the Leading Hotels of the World standards on the other hand.

Students' schedules are meticulously prepared and in collaboration with the palaces' teams to ensure that students can see a maximum of services, but also that they are always accompanied by a lecturer. In groups of two, per room, the young students who are in their first year under twenty, will go to the spa, order a bottle of champagne at the room service, go for a drink at the bar, or have the difficult task to choose between breakfast, breakfast in their room or gourmet breakfast!

The night at the Palace is also an opportunity to meet hoteliers and share their views on the luxury experience. The students in 2019 were able to visit both hotels as Le Meurice group went to dine at Le Bristol vice versa. The students were thus able to test a transfer on the way out and ask the concierge for a car on the way back. This switch is important because it allows them to feel the style and atmosphere that can be quite different from one hotel to another.

Funny point, each student receives an envelope with five ten euro bills for tips. It is a special experience to give a "tip" in a palace for the first time: how, when, what to say ... Students write down their impressions, their thoughts, that they will have to present during the debriefing the next day.

What surprised the students the most is the welcome! They expected to be treated as youngsters when they were actually welcomed as if they were at home. The students also appreciated the cover service, which they knew only by theory, and loved finding all their little things in order. "An unforgettable experience", "It feels like we went abroad for several days, while it was only 24 hours in Paris", "An asset for our future career" are example of feedback from students.

The Luxury Hotelschool would like to thank Luca Allegri at Le Bristol and Laetitia Forbes at Le Meurice, both graduation sponsors in 2018 and 2019, for welcoming the students and making this project feasible. For the rest of their studies and professional life, these Luxury Hotelschool students will have a direct knowledge of luxury...
