Aligning key people processes at Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. (IHCL) to impact the organization’s mission of becoming the most iconic and profitable hospitality company in South Asia.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) operates hotels and retail brands across key destinations globally and caters to nearly every travel demographic. IHCL’s flagship hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, is a world-renowned property that has been one of India’s premier destinations for over 100 years.

Despite its reputation for high-quality and luxury experiences, the company’s business had been in decline for several years with many hotels under-performing financially as well as in other metrics—including workforce morale and customer satisfaction which was a cause of concern.

As part of a multi-pronged strategy to transform the business, the HR leadership at IHCL aligned talent management and rewards directly to the organization’s mission and was able to transform the organization towards profitability, high guest delight and engaged employees.

How IHCL was able to increase guest delight and improve business results by focusing on accountability, collaboration, engagement, performance, and alignment of rewards has been recognized as a case study by Deloitte.
