In order to bring true support to artists, ibis has launched ibis MUSIC Contest, an international competition for up-and-coming artists across 17 countries.

Ibis’ new music program, ibis MUSIC, is the latest step in the brand’s transformation, offering local residents and travellers a totally new experience in hospitality, creating vibrant social hubs for increased social interaction with the local community.

The program was launched through an international contest that consisted of 44 intimate gigs staged in ibis hotels across 17 countries, promoting ibis’ passion for music.

With a new brand positioning, conversion to mobile check-in, a new design direction and a new focus on food and beverage sales, the ibis MUSIC program is set to provide a more modern and emotional proposition to appeal directly to music lovers.

The ibis MUSIC Contest was launched in March 29th 2019, however, all ibis hotels worldwide are encouraged to take part by staging their own in hotels music gigs beyond the official music contest activity. Artists, program and playlists are available on www.ibis-music.com.

Stellar partnerships

For these unique performances, ibis has partnered with respected music representation agency, Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative Group, providing big name headline acts to perform in ibis hotels across 6 countries.

Alongside Sony Music UK’s 4thFloor Creative Group, ibis has collaborated with Spotify, the world’s most popular streaming platform, identifying the hottest trends in emerging local music to play one-off shows for ibis Music across all 17 countries.

Established artists mentor up-and-coming musicians

Artists represented by Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative Group headlined shows in 6 countries, with support from identified up-and-coming local musicians.

New singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, took the lead in the UK. In France, Boulevard Des Airs headlined. In Brazil, sertaneja superstar Lucas Lucco, performed. Across Germany, Switzerland and Austria was indie-pop giants OK KID, who played tracks from their latest album.

The journey to Sziget Music Festival August 7 was the culmination of this musical journey. ibis took over the stage programming, giving ibis MUSIC finalists the opportunity to perform in a back-to-back showcase throughout the day.

Ibis’ nine up-and-coming artists included: Naë (France), Nxdia (United Kingdom), Gilsons (Brazil), Moglii (Germany), Maria Yfeu (Spain), Qaayel (Morocco), MVNSI (Belgium), So Flow (Poland), Glass Cristina (Mexico).

Those artists had been selected by a judging panel, made up of industry experts including representatives from partners.

From there, content captured of the finalist’s performances at the festival was available for consumers to vote on via ibis’ dedicated music platform: www.ibis-music.com.

The fans’ winner was crowned ibis MUSIC’s best up-and-coming artist, and received a life-changing prize to help launch their careers.

The winner’s prize consisted of working with Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative Group to promote their band and mentoring through studio sessions to help launch their musical careers. Vibrant, social, hang-out at the ibis Open Studio Ibis’ recent brand transformation offers local residents and travelers a new experience in hospitality, creating vibrant social hubs encouraging interaction with the local community.

The brand’s commitment to this new philosophy extends past the in-hotel experience, with ibis bringing a vibrant hang-out space, designed especially to increase social interaction, to Sziget Festival.

The ibis Open Studio – a nod to both the brand’s attitude of openness and connection with music – consists of a canopy structure featuring multiple animations to encourage festival-goers to join in the fun with their friends.

In addition to the ibis Open Studio, ibis offered festival-goers the chance to win a night of ultimate comfort in ibis’ exclusive onsite accommodation: The Loft.

Throughout the festival, ibis has selected the best photos from the ibis Open Studio-inspired photo competition to give six friends the chance to leave their tents behind and enjoy a night of comfort in The Loft.

Ibis brings its passion for music to life in so many ways The ibis MUSIC program, will see the roll out of activations and product propositions, implemented in ibis hotels worldwide. These are created to enrich the customer journey before, during and after staying at any ibis unit.

These products and activities are centred around the music platform, with the organization of in-hotel gigs, the roll out of instruments to guests in the hotel lobby, alongside the equipping of hotel rooms and/or bathrooms with equipment for guests to enjoy listening to music.

In some countries, the program will expand to include activities such as partnership with local music festivals, including Dot to Dot Festival in the UK and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

The brand is currently working on offering packages specifically designed to attract musicians and music fans alike to the hotels, becoming a vibrant musical hub for guests, the local community and the music industry as a whole
