Campaign - Fairmont Bee Sustainable
Cette candidature n'est disponible qu'en anglais / This application is only available in English.
A global bee-focused initiative currently featuring over 20 honey bee apiaries and more than 20 wild pollinator bee hotels at Fairmont locations worldwide aiding bee habitat protection.
For over 25 years, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has been committed to protecting its local environments through its award-winning Fairmont Sustainability Partnership. In 2008, Fairmont saw an opportunity to help combat Colony Collapse Disorder by placing beehives on hotel rooftop gardens.
In 2015 , Fairmont broadened its bee programming with the formal introduction of its Bee Sustainable program; in addition to focusing on honeybees, the program expanded to also focus on wild mason bees with the introduction of new pollinator bee hotels at Fairmont locations worldwide.
Fairmont was the first luxury hotel brand to develop on-site honey bee programming and is now considered the leading hotel company in this space. Today, Fairmont hotels have more than 40 honey bee apiaries and wild bee hotels at properties around the world. Many hotels are also famous for nurturing on-property herb and vegetable gardens, which contribute to pollinator health.
Bees are one of the most effective pollinators on the planet and they are declining at frightening rates. Habitat loss is a leading cause of that decline. Not only does the installation and maintenance of bee apiaries help local environments by providing bees with a home to pollinate area gardens and parks, but by harvesting, chefs can offer delicious, local and sustainable honey for use on-site.
This year, Fairmont elevated its Bee Sustainable programming as the first hotel brand to bring its efforts to life digitally through bee hive tracking, monitoring and analysis as a way to share the most up-to-date information live from its rooftop apiaries and bee hotels. This new digital platform provides Fairmont with the opportunity to further educate guests and colleagues about the importance of global bee health. Guests are encouraged to visit fairmontbeesustainable.com to learn more about the new initiative and to follow along with the Fairmont bees at properties worldwide.
