Over 200 visitors of AccorHotels’ F&B community attended the first „Camp for Food & Beverages & Entertainment Lovers” in Berlin. In addition to the possibility to learn more about the hottest F&B&E trends, the attendees had the chance to share knowledge and build strong professional relationships with colleagues and experts.

The event not only attracted 200 gastronomy professionals and foodies to the place of event, Mercure Hotel Moa Berlin, but also a large number of speakers and sponsors. The aim of the first F&B&E Camp was to promote the transfer of knowledge between all areas involved. Even more it was to revamp the passion, the engagement, the involvement of F&B&E within our hotels, in our F&B&E teams, in the hospitality area!
In keynote speeches as well as in idea labs, the experts reflected on industry trends and current marketing topics. Jan-Peter Wulf, the well-known food journalist and blogger (nomyblog), opened the event with a keynote speech on relevant trends in the food & beverage scene.

The following workshops invited the participants to become active themselves and exchange ideas on important future topics such as sustainability and storytelling. In the kitchen and bar of the event hotel, workshops were offered on the subject of food and drink styling, led by prestigious head chefs and bartenders.

With a Best Case-keynote by Dirk Dreyer, General Manager of the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin, and Philip Ibrahim, GM of the Mercure Hotel Berlin City, the first day of the camp ended with highly qualified speeches about the indispensable issue of entertainment, successfully.

The subsequent party in the ancient “Arminius” market hall Moabit - a culinary hotspot that combines nostalgia and modernity - created a great atmosphere with food, beverage and entertainment. Here, the experiences of the day could still be discussed in sufficient length.

The morning of the second day of the event was dominated by the topic Social Media Marketing. Both, experts from the hotel industry and the renowned social media consultant Annette Sandner, took part in the panel discussion on Local Social Marketing.

Amir Nahai (CEO Global F&B and Lifestyle AccorHotels) showed the auditorium the new global strategy and his vision of the way to success in Food, Beverage & Entertainment.

Even Arantxa Balson (Chief Talent & Culture Officer AccorHotels) was very pleased to join a panel discussion with the female chef of the Mercure Hamburg City, Duncan O`Rourke (COO Central Europe AccorHotels) and Volkmar Pfaff (Managing Director, SVP Franchise, Partner Relations, F&B&E, Innovation and T&C AccorHotels) to talk about their points of view regarding diversity and women in leadership functions.

One more highlight of the day was the F&B&E workshop, where the participants were able to create a mood board for their own imaginary F&B concept. They created it with the help of experts from various fields as Design & Technical Services and Marketing.

“From Expert to Expert” was the tenor of the session, created and moderated by Eric Lassiaille, who transported the significant and important development of F&B&E related storytelling on property and social media, combined with the success stories of his own venues.

The afternoon program was also interactive with three rotating workshops led by Sandro Ciani (Global F&B Heroes), Frank Müller-Meinke (Coca-Cola) and Kataneh Shakouhi (Global F&B Heroes). Throughout the event, the participants had the opportunity to participate interactively via App, which was specially programmed for the event. Everybody was invited to take part via chat and Q&A sessions on the individual presentations.

The participants, whether general managers, chefs, apprentices or trainees from economy, midscale, premium up to luxury brands from Austria, Switzerland and Germany, went home with lots of new ideas and suggestions for their company. This positive spirit still has a positive effect on sales figures, product development and guest satisfaction. So positive that a second camp is already being planned for the upcoming year. The event intents to develop into a platform for the exchange of information within the F&B community and to prepare the participants for the current challenges of their sector.

With certainty we have 200 enthusiastic F&B&E lovers more since then!

We light the pride!
