Each week brings a lot of new applications for smartphones. The latest: the luxury group Mandarin Oriental. Accor is one of these recent converts. “We launched a real multi-brand multilingual application – not an optimized version of a mobile site - in 5 and soon 7 languages,” rejoices Romain Roulleau in charge of new technologies at Accor Group. The world of mobile reservations is just in its beginnings but has already surpassed the world of geeks – or techno enthusiasts always looking for the latest technology available. These applications are beginning to be used by itinerants. “Mobile Fastbooking is downloadable from the iPhone AppStore since last December. And we have already registered 8,000 downloads and several reservations per day. For a group or independent hotel with a strong brand, it’s an excellent loyalty tool. This is why we are currently developing applications for XX Hotels et XX Hotels which will become available in March,” remarks Jean-Louis Boss.“The growth is very interesting. At first, we thought the use would concern the Leisure segment. In the end, reservations are mostly from Corporate clienteleon weekdays,” observes Olivier Mouchet of HRS. The German portal, which is working with all smartphone providers to create ad hoc solutions, is on the third version of its application for iPhone and is also present on Blackberry’s App World. “In this regard, we are working on an application where the businessman may integrate his customer code in the parameters to access his Corporate program,” explains Olivier Mouchet.
