Where Spanish Travelers are Headed in 2010

It comes as no surprise that the capital city Madrid ranks as the number one domestic destination for Spanish travelers in 2010. According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística, the number of accommodations in Madrid is increasing at an ever-faster rate as the city works hard to meet travelers’ demands. Recently, the quality of the accommodations in Madrid has even received national and international recognition. London and New York are repeat top destinations for international travelers “For 2010, we are seeing a continued popularity in trips to London and New York City. Specifically, London repeatedly ranks first for international destinations, offering vacationers opportunities to experience such landmarks as Piccadilly Circus, The Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace.” Of the top 10 international travel destinations, eight of those cities are within Europe, indicating a strong desire among Spanish residents to stay close to home. The destinations outside of the continent include New York City, and Marrakech.
