Located on the island of Nosy Komba in Madagascar, the Tsara Komba Caring Luxury Ecolodge follows detailed procedures in its operations in order to maintain best practices in terms of sustainable development (recycling, prudent use of water, solar boilers, low voltage lighting…).
It also has local guides who bring guests to meet local populations, to discover isolated villages. Tsara Komba Lodge created its own NGO that acts in favor of the respect of peoples’ dignity, rebuilding the village of Antrema, located less than 1 km from the lodge, where approximately 150 people live. This rebuilding program includes 30 houses, a nursery school (2 teachers remunerated by the NGO), a system of water adduction, rain drainage, bathroom equipment with toilets, showers... A healthcare service and a library are coming soon. Moreover, most employees come from this nearby village and the surrounding area and have received quality training in order to work their best with the property. They receive better salaries than local support offers them and their health care expenses are paid for thanks to the implementation of a health fund for the hotel in addition to local social services.
