Summary _ I have created a unique Eco-friendly hotel/motel complex. Utilizing recycled materials - this not only preserves the environment but 1 have a keen eye on preserving history._ Whilst my project is set in 9 acres of farmland, this wasn't without its challenges. My overriding reason for choosing this site was its location .. just 900 meters from the World renowned Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. Encompassing a large swap area and a steep hillside, 1 was confident the site could be adapted without destroying the natural beauty of the Waitomo Valley._ Part of the property was leveled to build a barn complex, complete with restaurant 1 bar 1 reception area and a theatre room. This was the first stage of creating Woodlyn Park, which has become a truly rare germ as a multi-functional hotel-motel complex. As 1 wanted to represent rural New Zealand,_ I planted a lot of native trees with the specific intent of attracting our native bird life. Using the challenging aspects of the land, 1 then went on to encompass some pieces of historical interest giving them a new lease of life as unique guest accommodation. My acquisitions include: the last remaining 1950's rail car, a 1950's Bristol Freighter (aeroplane) which saw service in the Vietnam war, and a World War Il Fairmile patrol ship. To utilize a steep building site 1 came up with a really unique idea and created the world's first Hobbit Hotel/Motel._ Having this diverse selection of styles of accommodation proves to have be on a huge advantage in attracting new and repeat custom alike, from all over the Globe. Proof of the success of my innovative complex has been making the 'Top Ten' of the Lonely Planet's Blue list of unusual destinations, and the publicity continuous with frequent write-ups in publications around the world._ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ Woodlyn Park appears in many articles around the world which has come about because of the innovative approach to creating a world-unique complex.
