October 2023: a mixed start to autumn for the French hotel industry

With the arrival of autumn, the first leaves have fallen and there has been a slight drop in the number of visitors to French hotels. The economic and geopolitical context is no stranger to the somewhat lower performance of the French hotel industry. However, the regions seem to be faring better than Paris and Ile-de-France, confirming tourists' appetite for greener destinations.

A drop in occupancy can be observed on a national scale, with a gap of -1.2 points compared to 2022. This gap is even greater when compared with pre-Covid occupancy rates (-2.6 points), marking the loss of momentum recorded by French hoteliers. But as nature goes into hibernation, not all...
