3 120 - The Novotel Room of the Future _ A world first new experience in the hotel room of the future. Created and brought to life with Microsoft, Novotel’s room of the future packed the best of new technologies into an outside-of-the-box architectural concept.

Summary_ In line with its commitment to innovation, Novotel offered a new type of room that made a clean break with traditional hotel thinking by redefining the use of space and adding cutting edge technologies. Guests had been able to test this experience melding design, innovation and entertainment during 120 nights (November 2011 – February 2012), at the Novotel Paris Vaugirard._ Microsoft, a partner since 2008 sharing common values with the brand, was at the center of this temporary room of the future, especially with the integration of the Xbox 360 and its revolutionary Kinect sensor, the interactive mirrors, the tactile surface table…_ This room concept targeted business men & women, couples but also an important core target for the brand: families (up to 2 children under 16)._ This revolutionary room had to be communicated in an innovative way. Therefore a specific visual identity was created and a 360° out-of-the box communication plan was implemented: media communication on MSN with a dedicated web-site, a strong press dispositive, a giant Kinect contest at ACCOR head office… in order to make a maximum buzz._ Thanks to the success met by this room concept, Novotel intends to give its clients a new innovation rendez-vous each 18 months…_ Strong assets of the project & reasons why we should win:-* Very good revenue & visibility generated for a low investment (200K€)-* Very positive outcome at various levels: -## client satisfaction: 90% -## room occupancy: 100% -## PR visibility: advertising revenue worth of 900 000€ gross, audience of more than 220 millions people, international coverage (Europe – Asia – US)-* Strong synergies within ACCOR: -## between ACCOR Marketing departments (the Brand, Consumer technology, Partnership, PR, Distribution…) -## between the Operations (the Novotel Vaugirard) and the Marketing teams-* Award won: Janus Label for « 2012 prospective » from the French Design Institute
