Maintaining a qualified and loyal workforce in the company, allowing its employees to get through the crisis in the best possible conditions is one of the challenges of the sector which normally struggles to recruit and keep its employees.
The International Air Transport Association estimates a 25 millions jobs risk to disappear on every continent following the Covid 19 crisis. Many employees of the hospitality industry are on partial unemployment and hirings are freezed. While the hospitality leaders are doing everything that is in their power to preserve their companies, one should think about the future and maintain its workforce.
One way to face the crisis is solidarity, towards those who suffer from the virus, towards those in needs and also towards its employees.
Wyndham unites with important companies to help its employees finding a job during the lockdown of its properties. 10 big American companies are partnering such as Walmart or Amazon to hire Wyndham team members. The company is also working with the American Hotel & Lodging Association to propose hiring opportunities in the hospitality indutry to its team members.

On April 14, the Hyatt Care Fund has been lauched to help global team members in need. "The ultimate goal of the Hyatt Care Fund is to provide financial relief to as many impacted colleagues as possible. Initially, grants will be prioritized to colleagues who are currently working zero hours and not eligible for government assistance. Grants will provide compensation for needs ranging from rent payments to groceries or childcare assistance to utilities and other monthly payments."
In agreement with its shareholders, the Accor group launched the ALL Heartist fund by allocating 25% of the dividends planned for 2019, i.e. 70 million euros. This fund will be used in particular to pay for the hospitalization of the group's employees, to support employees in financial difficulty due to technical unemployment, and to provide increased support to charities and healthcare personnel.
Hospitality employees around the world are not equal to face the crisis. Some countries give the possbility for partial unemployment and provide team members with minimum salaries, other cannot support their workforce. Hotel groups are here to support their team members waiting for the storm to calm down and maybe desappear.
