Derby and Swiss Partner Launch Hospitality Masterclass

Hospitality professionals around the world can now learn the very latest about the strategic management of their industry and fast-track their careers by studying a new postgraduate qualification online with the University of Derby and its prestigious international partner, the Swiss Hotel Management School.

The newly developed and recently launched online MA in International Hospitality Management is taking applications for this September.During the masterclasses in Leysin, Switzerland, learners will attend workshops with industry leaders such as Hyatt, Fairmont and Accor and visits to leading hotel companies such as Montreux Palace, Kempinski Palace and Gstaad Palace.It has been designed specifically for senior hospitality professionals who want to develop their strategic and management skills to further their career. Students will develop an understanding of the management of cultural diversity, the internationalisation of the industry, marketing, finance and strategy in a wide variety of contexts, including hotels, exhibitions, festivals, and sporting events.This is one of five new programmes in the University’s online provision; taking the number of programmes it delivers online up to 28. Julie Stone, Head of University of Derby Online, said: “Over the last few years we have seen increased numbers of people applying to study and successfully completing online degrees with Derby around the world. Last year 19 people studied the online BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management.“We introduced this new Masters programme to consolidate on the online undergraduate degree we offer; giving graduates the opportunity to enhance their careers with a unique programme which includes two, week-long masterclasses at the prestigious Swiss Hotel Management School in Leysin, Switzerland.“We also hope the online programmes are attractive to anyone wanting to further their career in hospitality management.”During the masterclasses in Leysin, Switzerland, learners will attend workshops with industry leaders such as Hyatt, Fairmont and Accor and visits to leading hotel companies such as Montreux Palace, Kempinski Palace and Gstaad Palace.
