Chinese airlines are seeing a slight recovery in domestic passenger demand despite the ongoing pandemic.
This represents an upward trend compared to last year due to limited demand for inbound travel during weekends and vacations.
For the second consecutive month, China Southern Airlines (CZ) recorded an increase in domestic passenger numbers. In October, it registered 11.79 million people.
Like CZ, Air China (CA) is also experiencing similar growth capacity with an increase of 4%. In contrast, China Eastern Airlines (MU) recorded a 3% decline in October. A month earlier, it had recorded a 1% increase in domestic demand.
However, the international recovery is still a long way off : while these figures seem optimistic, international flights continue to land lower. China's three major airlines reported a monthly decline of more than 90% in long-haul flights.
