The airline, Air Caraïbes, has appointed Eric Michel as Deputy General Manager as of 1 February 2022. He will be a member of the Executive Committee and will work at the company's headquarters in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.
Eric Michel acquired his experience in the Air France Group where he dedicated his career, notably in the field of stopovers and in the commercial sector. Eric Michel has extensive experience in the environment and positioning of Air Caraïbes.
Eric Michel's appointment comes at an important time for Air Caraïbes: the health crisis. The COVID-19 is still very proving for the airline industry, yet the prospects of a post COVID-19 era are being considered and should allow a resumption of traffic both regionally and transatlantically.
The Air Caraïbes fleet consists in 3 Airbus A350-100s, 3 Airbus 350-900s, 5 Airbus 330s and operates on its transatlantic routes and 3 ATR-600s on its intra-island network. Thus, the airline has a dense programme to its core destinations: the West Indies, Guyana and the Dominican Republic.
Marc Rochet, Chief Executive Officer of Air Caraïbes said:
I would first of all like to pay tribute to the memory of Olivier Besnard who was in this position and who left us suddenly last April. I would like to warmly thank Yoann Paulin who has accompanied the development of Air Caraïbes since then. Yoann will be moving on to other personal activities and will be taking on the role of Director of the company for which he was appointed. I am convinced that the arrival of Eric Michel at our side will be an additional asset for us. Eric is a great airline professional: he knows our customers and our markets and will be able to put his expertise at the service of our ambitions.
