Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard

Richard Branson’s brand signed an agreement to buy the new luxury property, the Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard in Franschhoek, en Afrique du Sud.

With his luxury hotel brand Virgin Limited Edition, Richard Branson is taking on the South African market. The entrepreneur signed an agreement to take over the Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard, in Franschhoek, from the South African entrepreneur Miko Rwayitare. This will be the brand's second property at the destination after the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve. The amount of the transaction has not yet been made public.

The hotel will be closed for renovation until August 2014. Dating from 1688, the hotel has 22 picturesque rooms and 39 hectares of land just a few kilometers from the city of Cape Town. The Mont Rochelle was purchased by 2001 by Miko Rwayitare.

The luxury collection of Virgin Limited Edition currently has a portfolio of eight properties: Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa, The Roof Gardens & Babylon Restaurant in London, Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, The Lodge in Verbier, the luxury catamaran the Necker Belle, the submarine the Necker Nymph, and the camp Mahali Mzuri in Kenya.
