Swiss hotels will be gaining a new, extensive hotel complex. A Qatar investment fund has put out 485 million Swiss francs - more than 400 million euros - to develop a project on the Bürgenstock, a rocky peak high over the Lake of Lucerne in Central Switzerland.

The complex will be built in several phases. It will include three hotels, with some 400 rooms and suites: the Bürgenstock Hotel, the Palace Hotel and the Waldhotel. The Waldhotel will be part of the first phase and its doors will open in 2017, with 160 rooms and suites. The other infrastructures that will be built include a spa, a conference center, residences and twelve restaurants and bars. The Taverne 1879, a newly refurbished restaurant and pension with 12 guestrooms, is already open.

Katara Hospitality Switzerland AG located in Zug, Switzerland is the operator for Swiss hotels belonging to Qatar's sovereign state funds, will construct the complex.
