
On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, Sheraton has announced the opening of a new hotel in Macau. The establishment comprises nearly 4,000 rooms, making it the largest hotel to open worldwide in 2012.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide increases its presence in the Asian Pacific market with the opening of the Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central, the largest hotel in group’s global portfolio and the biggest hotel in Macau. Consisting of 3,896 rooms within two towers, it is the largest hotel to open worldwide this year and is part of Macau’s new of Sands Cotai Central development on the Cotai Strip. According to Starwood Hotels & Resorts, this new dining and entertainment complex generates “four times the revenue of Las Vegas."The opening coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Sheraton brand and strengthens its presence in the Asian Pacific market, where it operates 95 hotels. Starwood has announced it is pursuing strong development in the region, hoping to surpass 320 hotels here by 2014.
