
IHG is pursuing strong expansion in Indonesia, with 14 new hotels set to open here between now and 2016. The brand is already present in Indonesia with hotels under its InterContinental and Crowne Plaza brands.
IHG has revealed a strong pipeline of hotels in Indonesia, which it identifies as a “key growth market.” The country has a fast-growing middle class and achieved GDP growth figures of 6.5% in 2011. In particular, the group is to expand in the midscale segment with the opening of three hotels under its Holiday Inn brand and nine Holiday Inn Express hotels. Amongst these are the Holiday Inn Resort Bali Benoa in 2014, Holiday Inn Solo in 2016, and Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin in 2013.IHG will open its fifth InterContinental hotel in the country in 2015 and is to introduce its upscale boutique Indigo brand with the opening of the Hotel Indigo Jakarta Kemang in 2016. In total, IHG will be present under five brands in Indonesia.
