
Brazil is preparing to host the biggest sporting event in the world. With the approach of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the country's authorities have announced the development of 422 additional hotels in the country for a total investment of some 5.3 billion dollars. By 2016, hotel capacity in Brazil is expected to increase by more than 70,500 rooms.Some of these establishments, which will be ready for 2014, will also be used to host the Football World Cup next summer. By then, 164 additional hotels should be operational.The whole of these developments will create 34,000 new direct jobs in the country, the majority of which will be in the Rio de Janeiro region, where 59% of investments are expected to be made .
