
Malaysian conglomerate Berjaya Corp is developing a luxury Four Seasons Hotel in Kyoto, set to open in 2015. 25 billion yen (US $318 million) will be invested in the project.
Four Seasons is set to enter Kyoto with the development of a new 186-room hotel under the Four Season flag in the city. Malaysia's RHB Bank Bhd is providing finance for the project, the cost of which has been estimated at 25 billion yen (US $318 million). It will become one of the few luxury hotels in the Kyoto due to building restrictions which forbid the construction of properties of more than a certain height in order to protect the city’s landscape. The new hotel is expected to open in 2015.
