By far the largest market for Egyptian tourism, Europe has returned to the country. During the first quarter of the 2013 year, visitors from the Old Continent represented 2.1 million tourists, 14.6% more than during the same period in 2012. Russia occupied the first place among feeder markets with 490 026 visitors (+43.2%), ahead of Germany (308 193 tourists, +16.5%), the UK (269 866 tourists, +2.5%), and Italy (150 264 people, +9%). France occupies 11th place with 146 visitors.
The destination's office of tourism thereby announced an increase of 14.6% in visits over the period, with a total of 2.8 million international visitors.
