Ireland welcomes increasing volumes of tourists

Ireland's Tourism Board announced record results for the first months of 2015, with close to 4.8 million visitors between January and July.

4.8 million tourists have already traveled to Ireland over the first seven months of 2015. The destination's Tourism Board mentions record arrivals, with a 12% over the previous year for close to 522,000 additional visitors.

All the source markets participated in this growth. Between January and July 2015, close to 2 million Britons traveled to Ireland, or 11% more than in 2014. Great Britain remains the leading source market for the country. Continental Europe follows (+13%), with 1.7 million visitors, North America (+15%) with 857,000 tourists, and Australia and emerging markets (+9%), with 292,100 travelers.

The first seven months of the year 2015 offer new proof of the impact of the reduced VAT for tourism that was implemented in the country in 2011 and extended in 2013. Since then tourist arrivals have continued to grow.
