According to figures from the Tunisian Minister of Tourism, the number of tourists arriving at the destination in the first quarter is up by 7.1%.

Tunisia shows slight improvement in its tourism indicators at the beginning of this year. On the first quarter 2014, the number of tourists has progressed by 7.1% with respect to last year to reach 988,767 visitors. This figure nonetheless remains 10% lower than in 2010, prior to the impact of Arab Spring on the industry.

Spending in the sector is also growing with a 2.5% increase in revenues in dinars over 2010. However, these figures do not take into consideration the depreciation of Tunisian currency since the revolution in January 2011.

The Tunisian government set a goal to grow tourism indicators to regain its figures from 2010, meaning 7 million tourists. The sector accounted for 7% of the country's GDP in 2010.
