TourInvest Forum: Sustainable growth in tourism, how does that work in practice?

While 2017 was declared the year of sustainable tourism by the WTO, what is really happening in tourism, when all the conferences and generous stances are finished? How did hoteliers and hotel groups implement tools for management and sharing good practices with regard to ecology and sustainable growth? Also, how can good intentions and new customer demands be used in business and to create financial appeal?

At the second round table at the TourInvest Forum six contemporary actors from the tourism sector who are particularly affected by the challenge of sustainable development will share their solutions and hold a debate regarding concrete situations and feedback from experiments. They will tell us if and how the impact of sustainable development measures can be weighed in terms of customer satisfaction, impact on business and return on investment; and how the role of staff, technology and marketing could be rethought so that sustainable growth and social responsibility initiatives can become reality in the world of tourism.

Marie Balmain, Sustainability Manager - CSR at the group Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs, which for more than a decade has carried out many sustainable growth actions through the responsible management of the group's properties, the creation of eco-friendly resorts (particularly its newest brand Villages Natures) and respect for several criteria in terms of social responsibility. 

Yonas Fall, Founder & CEO at Pur Projet, a group that combines businesses and their ecosystems in a double purpose of social responsibility ans sustainable development  particularly  "insetting" programs. By securing suppliers through established ties with local communities, Pur Projet offers a development model that is both sustainable and respects nature.

Sophie Gautier, Head Hotel Asset Management at Foncière des Régions, a major owner of tourism properties, which is responsible for the development of new real estate projects that include strong consideration of the challenges of sustainability. After a university studies at ESSEC, she spent ten years working at Bouygues Construction. 

Hervé Guillon, Head of Sustainable and adapted Tourism at the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau. Urban planner by training, he specialized in accessibility for people with disabilities, and then combined this subject with sustainability. Today he leads the "Pour un hébergement durable à...
