By 2028, the tourism sector could account for 10% of GDP.

The French tourism sector is expected to continue to grow over the next ten years, including increased tourist spending and long-term job creation (according to a study by the Conseil mondial du voyage et du tourisme in association with The Oxford Economics).

In 2017, 10% of wage employment was in the tourism sector, representing 2.8 million jobs.

More generally, INSEE already presented record figures for tourism in its 2017 report, as well as sustained growth in the first quarter of 2018, which heralds a promising future.

In 2028, tourism will represent 11.2% of total employment, corresponding to more than 3.3 million jobs.

Nearly 90 million tourists are expected in France in 2018. France is even expected to welcome more than 118 million tourists in 2028.

In 2017, according to this study, tourists in France spent 44.3 billion euros, an increase of 50% more than the world average. In 2028, tourist spending in France should represent 64.8 billion euros.
