
The Regional Committee of Tourism for Paris Ile-de-France published the results of arrivals in the capital and its region across the year 2013, with some 32.3 million tourist arrivals at hotels.
Foreigners drove Parisian tourism. The number of foreign visitors grew by 8.2% to 15.5 million, while nights grew by 6.1% to 38.4 million. Foreign visitors represent 47.8% of all arrivals in the capital and its region and 57% of all nights.
The primary supply markets are the United Kingdom and the United States, weighing respectively 14% and 13% of all arrivals. While Chinese clientele represents only 6% of occupancy in Parisian, this group shows better growth, making a 52.6% leap in arrivals and 47.6% growth in nights. The number of clients from the Middle East is also up sharply, by around 20.7% for a total of nights up by 16.9%.
Inversely, domestic clientele is down in 2013, with a 7.5% drop in number of arrivals (16.9 million) and an 8.8% decrease in nights (29 million).
