February 2022 : Is the European hotel industry coming close to the end of the crisis ?

The lull at the end of 2021 had been followed by downturns in December 2021 and January 2022 in almost all European countries due to the "Omicron wave". Fortunately, in February, the industry rebounded and returned to growth, exceeding the level of last December. However, the dynamics remain heterogeneous by country.

In February, hotel performance picked up again after a drop in January: RevPAR, which was -49.9% below the pre-crisis level in January, rose to a gap of -32.3% in February compared to February 2019. Performance has thus risen above the December 2021 level (-35.5%). The occupancy rate stood at 44.6%...
