October 1 marks National Day in China; it is also the day Steigenberger Hotel Group will launch with its new program called China Selection specifically addressing Chinese guests at 26 properties under the Steigenberger and InterCity brands.
This program is the first initiative of its kind in Germany and aims to develop the loyalty of increasing volumes of Chinese clientele through a series of practical actions. Each Chinese client will receive a welcome card in Mandarin explaining the program's advantages. Upon arrival in their room the television is already tuned to a channel in Chinese. Restaurants offer a series of dishes that familiar to Chinese gastronomes, and, even more practical, accept the payment card Unionpay, which is popular with visitors from the Middle Empire, will be accepted at all points of sale.
According to Puneet Chhatwal, the group's general manager, it is an effort to send a clear welcome to Chinese clientèle. After an initial experimental period at the 26 hotels selected for their location and current popularity with Chinese travelers, China Selection could be expanded to the entire network in Europe.
