In Stockholm, the chain hotel supply amounts to 13,586 chain rooms as of January 1, 2017, +3.8% from 2016. More than one-fourth of the national chain supply is concentrated in the capital (24.5%). Whereas 2015 had been marked by numerous brand changes, the major event on the market in 2016 was the opening of the Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport and its 414 rooms. The First Hotel Group also increased its local supply by 64 rooms with the First Hotel Brommaplan. Scandic recorded a slight decrease in its supply, Radisson Blu slightly expanded. The Villa Kalhagen (36 rooms) left Warwick.
Scandic dominates the Stockholm market with 3,613 chain rooms on January 1, 2017, through 16 units. Scandic now holds 28.6% of the chain supply of the Swedish capital. It is followed by the brand Clarion with 2,164 rooms in 6 hotels. Radisson Blu is the third major brand with 1,643 chain rooms in 5 hotels.
