Hospitality On pays homage to the founder of Choice Hotels International, through publishing a video filmed at the 14th Worldwide Hospitality Awards ceremony for the category of Lifetime Achievement.
Stewart Bainum will remain an example for the international hotel industry. He got his start in the profession in 1957, opening his first hotel in Maryland in the United States and thus setting the first brick in the small hotel chain then called Quality Courts Group. His professionalism allowed him to quickly develop his portfolio to build one of the leading franchise chains in the global hotel industry, today known as Choice Hotels International. Stewart Bainum is also recognized for his engagement in charitable works, having founded the Commonweal Foundation, which provides education and support programs to children.
