The 56th edition of the International Agricultural Show on the theme "Women, men, talents" closed its doors on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Hotel performance over the 9 days offers a qualified picture: a significant increase in occupancy rate, but prices down compared to 2018.
633,219 visitors came through the doors of the International Agricultural Show this year, slightly fewer than the record attendance of 2018. For Parisian hoteliers, on the other hand, performance is not declining and the occupancy rate is better than last year. Paradoxically, in 2018, the increase in attendance at the Show did not have a positive effect on the occupancy rate, which even dropped by 2 points.
This year, the 1.05 point increase in the occupancy rate compared to 2018 is encouraging. It is even more valuable in light of the social demonstrations in Paris and the poor performance of the Parisian hotel industry at the beginning of the year. In order to reach this occupancy rate of 65.5% during the period of the International Agricultural Show, Parisian hotel operators could certainly count on the price effect by adjusting their rates down by -1.7% compared to the same period last year. Overall, RevPAR remained stable (-0.1%) compared to last year.
Note the excellent performance of the closest hotels (see the 2nd graph below). They gained on both fronts: increase in the occupancy rate (+3.2 points to 71.2%) and increase in the average daily rate (+6.3% to 135.25€). The RevPAR rose by 11.3% compared to 2018.
