Does Lyon regain some colour?

Lyon is the second economic centre in France after Paris and is connected to the rest of Europe with the TGV and its Saint-Exupéry airport, which will increase its capacity in 2018 to 15 million passengers.

The capital of the Gauls has many assets to attract visitors: a long culinary tradition, events of national scope (the Festival of Lights and its 3 million annual visitors on average, Pollutec and the SIRHA biennial...) and its city centre on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

In its centre, the Lyon peninsula is being modernised and around the Musée des Confluences opened in 2014, nearly 230,000 m² of new offices should be built by 2025 making this district a new economic centre.

With a channel offering of 12,222 rooms for 134 channel establishments, Lyon ranks 3rd in the national ranking (behind Paris and Nice), but fell slightly (-1.5%, -188 keys). Lyon's offer is mainly concentrated on the budget and economy segments, which keeps the city's RevPAR at low values and makes it more susceptible to price variations.  

The performance of the City of Lights increased in 2017, with an increase in RevPAR of 1.3%, driven by the rise in the occupancy rate (+3.2 points), tourists returning to the territory after a year 2016 marked by attacks. Prices are down in all segments compared to 2016, suffering from the comparison with a year that hosted the Football Euro, the Festival of Lights and a rich calendar of events. The average price is refixed at a level close to 90€ TTC.

The Accorhotels and Jin Jiang / Louvre Hotels groups largely dominate the Lyon market, with 5,360 and 2,566 rooms respectively. In 2017, the HotelF1 brand saw 5 hotels leave, causing the Accorhotels group to lose 384 super-economic rooms
