First for the International Congress and Convention Association, second behind Paris according to the Union of International Associations : Vienna is a world leading destination for congress. Overnights generated by such events have more than doubled since 2001 as the Austrian capital state is reaching over the 10 million overnights. It’s good to be an hotelier on the blue Danube’s borders ! Congress, seminars, business and leisure : they can count on all the tourism spectrum to optimise their mix clientele. Furthermore, the recent opening of 4 new hotels has no consequences : occupancy reaches new records with 77.5% in average for the last 12 months, going up to 90.2% in September 2007. Facing such popularity, hoteliers have every latitude to make their average room rate evolve (+9.4%). With an 8.0% rise, last April’s performance could be seen as seemingly pale figures next to the average RevPar annual growth of 10.6%. The capital state of Austria can now wait for the Euro 2008 in a serene way as it will host the Final, on June the 29th.
