Compared to an exceptional 2007, particularly noticeable in Paris and Marseille with the last matches of the World Rugby Cup, the drop in the RevPAR of French hotels remains controlled with a drop by 3.4%. It is naturally the upmarket segment and the Parisian hotel industry that post the strongest contrasts with 2007. Economy hotel segments (0, 1, 2*) on the other hand show strong resistance with a slight slump in activity compensated for by significant growth in average daily rates. Chain hotels in the region had a good month. While there was a drop in business, average daily rates showed strong resistance. Results for October 2008 are thus not so bad, particularly if we look at 2006, a year that is similar since Paris also hosted the Motor Show. The RevPAR is up by more than 10% over two years ago.
