
The city's first Sheraton hotel should open its doors by the end of the year, confirming the acceleration of growth of Starwood Hotels & Resorts brands on the strategic Saudi market.
At present, Starwood operates two Le Méridien addresses in the Holy City. The Westin Makkah and Four Points by Sheraton Makkah should also make their debuts in April 2017 and May 2019, respectively. The group currently operates fifty or so addresses under its ten brands in the Middle East, and plans to achieve a portfolio of 100 properties in 2020. As of January 1, 2016, the newly entity consisting of Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts is the most biggest hotel operator worldwide in terms of number of rooms, with 5,640 hotels for 1,108,852 rooms worldwide, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
