Starwood Hotels reinforces Saudi Arabian network

The American hotel group, which has recently relocated its headquarters to the region, has announced contracts for three new establishments in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement with Jabal Omar Development to open three new establishments in Mecca, each under different Starwood brands. The deal will add 1,496 rooms to the group's portfolio in Starwood Hotel's second largest market in the region behind the UAE, where the group currently operates 10 establishments.

The three hotels will be under the city under the Sheraton, Westin, and Four Points by Sheraton brands. The Sheraton Mecca will offer 532 guestrooms, the Westin Mecca will add 513 rooms, and the Four Points by Sheraton Mecca will bring 170 rooms to the city, bringing the group's Saudi Arabian portfolio to over 3 000 rooms. The first is to open its doors in 2015.
