Starwood Capital expected choice for Brooklyn Bridge hotel development project

The New York Times reports the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corp. should vote Tuesday to select Toll Brothers City Living and Starwood Capital Group to develop the hotel and residential project slated for the 1.3-mile-long park area next to Pier 1 and south of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Starwood Capital Group is expected to develop a 200-room 1 Hotel in the space.The NYT continues to report that Toll Brothers City Living and Starwood were two of the three finalists for the $295 million complex project and that they combined elements of their plans late in the process. Construction on the buildings will begin next summer, with completion expected in 2015, acording to the NYT. Further to the 200-room hotel and 160 condominium units, there will also be 32,000 square feet of restaurant and banquet space, as well as a 6,000-square-foot spa.
