St. Regis debuts in Kuala Lumpur

Second property of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts brand in Malaysia, the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is welcoming its first guests this week. It is the brand's 38th hotel worldwide.

Overlooking Perdana Botanical Garden, the Malaysian capital's largest park, the 208 rooms of the latest St. Regis hotel should meet the expectations of panorama enthusiasts. The property has a spa, a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool, and even a yoga room. With no less than six restaurants, the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur stands out thanks to its exceptional culinary features. The opening of Taka by Sushi Saito, the first restaurant to open outside Tokyo by three Michelin-starred chef Takashi Saito, should foster the establishment of the St. Regis kitchens in Kuala Lumpur's gastronomic landscape.

The acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts by Marriott International was certainly the hotel industry's operation of the year. Respectively 3rd and 7th in the global ranking of hotel groups in terms of number of rooms prior to the merger according to data published by MKG Consulting, following this operation they will be the biggest player in the world, with over one million rooms - including more than 800,000 in the upscale segment alone.
