
Spanish attendance has reached levels close to its previous records. During the first semester of 2013, the destination welcomed some 26.1 million international tourists, 1.1 million more than during the same period last year, according to data collected by Frontur (the national body responsible for observing the influx at the country's borders). The United Kingdom remains Spain's principal source market, with an increase of 4.5% in visitor numbers, followed by the German market, up by 3.1%, then the French and Russian markets. Concerning regions, Cataluña and the Canaries benefitted the most from the influx of tourists.
