With a luxury hotel portfolio of more than 520 hotels in 90 countries, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) recently launched Considerate Collection, a luxury hotel brand with a strong commitment to sustainability.
The concept of eco-hotels is not new. Between simple marketing arguments and real measures, many establishments present themselves as "eco-friendly". The innovative character of Considerate Collection lies in its actors.
Indeed, in order to create a reliable and transparent framework for their hotels, SLH has called upon the World Council for Sustainable Tourism (WSST), an independent international non-profit organization created by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the World Tourism Organization (WTO), and Greenview, whose platform is the only sustainable tourism management tool recognized by the WSST.
From Thailand to Bhutan, the Considerate Collection now includes 26 pioneering hotels in 16 countries, with a focus on culture and environment.
Daniel Luddington, vice president, development, SLH, said:
We have carefully curated the Considerate Collection to spotlight luxury boutique hotels exemplary in their sustainability efforts, making it easier for customers and the travel trade to make better-considered choices.
This is not about creating a new brand, but rather building on the strong brand values that have existed within SLH since its inception.
