The hotel group has signed a sponsorship partnership with the Maud Fontenoy Foundation, dedicated to preserving the oceans and the environment, to further its commitment to reducing single-use plastic in everyday life.
Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, and 85% of marine waste is made up of plastic. To combat this pollution, Louvre Hotels Group is strengthening its commitment to this ecological initiative by supporting the foundation with a donation. Since June 8, the Group has been selling 1,500 water bottles and reusable cups in all its subsidiary hotels and franchisees. Golden Tulip, Campanile and Kyriad hotels are offering the bottles, while Première Classe and Kyriad Direct are providing the reusable cups. The funds raised will be donated to the Maud Fontenoy Foundation.
In addition, 450 of these bottles were donated to the Maud Fontenoy Foundation, which was able to offer them to 300 children at its annual gala held on June 8 to mark World Oceans Day.
At the same time, the Group's hotels are committed to raising customer awareness of the issue during their stay, through various communications media.
Created in 2008, the Maud Fontenoy Foundation takes its name from its president, Maud Fontenoy, and works in France and abroad to preserve the oceans through environmental education initiatives aimed at young people and the general public. It relies on the support of scientific partners and the French Ministry of Education, to which it has been entrusted with the task of promoting education about the sea and relaunching the "Classes de mer" program. To date, these initiatives have raised awareness of marine environmental issues among nearly a million children.
