Maxime Blondeau, analyst and cosmographer, deciphers our relationship with the land over the course of human history. It is a relationship that changed profoundly at the beginning of the Neolithic era and at the dawn of globalisation. He calls for us to rediscover a better balance with the land and the living creatures that surround us at a time when sustainable development is at the centre of our personal and professional concerns.

My key word is territory, and the tourism industry is deeply linked to the relationship that humanity develops with its territory. Today I'm going to try to link this subject to CSR, although my speciality is territorial responsibility.

For the last ten years or so, I've been teaching anthropology at Science Po, with a course called 'Programming the World'. In this course, I look at the way in which the world is programmed and how the world programs us in return through technical tools such as artificial intelligence. Today, we are largely programmed by technical infrastructures, which direct our attention left and right. In the course of my work, I realised that our vision of the territory is strongly determined by the technical systems that surround us.

At the same time, I set up the 'Territory, Energy, Climate' programme at Mines de Paris, which is aimed more at public policy leaders such as Matignon and the Prime Minister's office. In this programme, I ask questions like: "How do you view and represent the territory? Are there any blind spots in your vision of the region? Blind spots that can turn out to be very serious, since these politicians take decisions with great technical intensity that can change people's lives or physically transform an area.

I also act as an advisor to a number of major groups in different sectors such as transport and real estate. And the key word behind all these hats is cosmographer. This term refers to the representation of the universe, i.e. the way in which we represent the territory graphically but also through data and writing.
