Rotana Hotels & Resorts, a key regional player with 70 properties throughout the Middle East and Africa, is entering into a new phase of its development with a new leader at its helm. Co-founder Selim El Zyr is stepping down to make way for Omer Kaddouri as the group's new President & CEO. El Zyr is not leaving Rotana altogether though - he will continue as the Vice Chairman of the Board.Kaddouri is nevertheless viewed as a very able successor to El Zyr's 21-year reign. Kaddouri has been with Rotana for 15 years, and is largely accredited with creating synergy among properties with an innovating mindset. This shuffle in leadership has made other waves within the hotel group. Kaddouri previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Filling this vacancy will be Guy Hutchinson, who is coming to Rotana from his previous role as Vice President Operations - India at Hilton Worldwide. These changes in leadership come at a time when Rotana aspires to operate 100 hotels by 2020. New management is expected to deliver on this ambition, both Kaddouri and Hutchinson noted for their creativity.
