The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. opened in Saudi Arabia this week with the 493-room Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh.

The interesting aspect about this hotel is that it has 213,500 square meters of landscaped gardens. From a marketing point of view, this is a colossal investment for client experience because of the costs involved in the maintenance of these gardens, and also because it is valuable real estate that is reserved for a a purely decorative purpose and does not bring in revenue to the hotel. There are also 5,800 sq metres of conference space (pictured above). The hotel is designed by Al Rasheed Engineering Company and constructed by Oger International. There are also 5,800 sq metres of conference space (pictured above).
